Folio > Publications
Publication design is a broad area that encompasses many styles – from editorial design (books, magazines & newsletters), report design, programs and catalogues are just a few examples.
Most publications carry a degree of project management, juggling schedules and supplies of copywriting, photography, illustrations – even advertising.
As designers, we offer recommendations of suitable paper stocks and printing techniques such as embossing, varnishing treatments and special inks to get the most from the design.
We have a close working relationship with our printers and will be with them at press time to ensure our colour choices marry to those approved on the printer’s proof and meet our expectations.
There are a myriad of designer rules when it comes to publication design, the balance ratio of each page spread and appropriate legibility of the text are amongst the most crucial, but breaking the rules and pushing the boundaries can also create exciting page layouts.
